Job Description

Overview and Purpose of the Role:

As a key member of the OUTsurance Holdings Company Limited team, the Insurance Portfolio Manager will be responsible for growing and developing the business insurance portfolio. This role requires a strong understanding of the insurance industry and the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients.

Key Outputs:

  1. New Business sales
  2. Client service and management
  3. High level performance

Responsibilities:

Business Development:

  • Prospect for new clients through networking, cold calling, and door-to-door canvassing for new business.
  • Effective communication with both internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Conduct a comprehensive risk evaluation for the client.
  • Provide solutions to clients by selling OUTsurance short-term products aligned to the needs of the client.

Client Service and Management:

  • Draft, track, and measure your personal business plan.
  • Provide ongoing service and support to your individual client base (amendments, renewals, claims, etc.).
  • Retention of existing business including renewal discussions in line with FAIS.

Relationship Management:

  • Develop internal/external relationships with clients.
  • Continuous building of your client base, hence securing future income.

Professional Development:

  • Keep abreast of the commercial insurance market changes and developments.
  • Achieve/exceed targets consistently.
  • Provide feedback to line management when requested.

Team Collaboration:

  • Attend all weekly and ad hoc team meetings.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, i.e., underwriting/actuarial, claims, as well as surveying.

Qualifications:

  • Completed Matric or National Senior Certificate
  • FAIS credits/Full Insurance Qualifications (Depending on DOFA)
  • Must have your own reliable transport
  • 3 years external sales experience (If not from the insurance industry)
  • Communication (verbal and written) in English
  • Numerical & mathematical skills

  • Confident and enthusiastic self-starter who can take initiative
  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team - balances team and individual responsibility, provides and accepts feedback
