We are currently recruiting for a Reception Manager to work with the Front of House Manager and Rooms Division Manager, P&C Manager Senior Management in promoting our Red Carnation Hotels & Forbes 5 Star standards, as well as training and developing our team members.
POSITION: RECEPTION MANAGER
DEPARTMENT: FRONT OF HOUSE
REPORTING TO: Front of House Manager, Rooms Division Manager, P&C Manager Senior Management
Key responsibilities of the Reception Manager will include:
**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**
1. To be fully familiar with your departmental and Forbes SOPs and procedures and ensure that these are implemented consistently when on duty.
2. To be responsible for the Reception department in the absence of the Front of House Manager
3. To ensure that all team members comply with the standards laid down in the SOP detail regarding uniform, work standards, systems, and security and hygiene levels.
4. To check that all staff are on duty as per their roster and report any issues to P&C. In the absence of the Front of House Manager, ensure that there are adequate staffing levels to meet the daily business.
5. To be familiar with each day’s business regarding room occupancy, special requirements and VIP needs and to react to same. Ensure that all staff are aware of the daily business and requirements.
6. To liaise with Accommodation, Guest Services and Food and Beverage regarding room moves, VIP guests, special needs and act on same.
7. To check on all work given to the team throughout the day to ensure tasks meet the defined standards.
8. To liaise with Maintenance on any defects highlighted by guests.
9. To actively train all staff to the standards laid down in the SOP detail and monitor their work performance, taking corrective action where necessary.
10. To maintain a par stock of stationary, etc. in order to ensure consistency in standards and monitor cost control of same.
11. To adhere to Stock Control Procedures, taking due care to reduce wastage, prevent breakages and any other unnecessary loss of monies or damage to hotel property.
12. To follow the standard agreed in the SOP detail regarding Cashiering and monies control at Reception.
13. To support the company to achieve room budget, payroll budget and maintain room rate integrity.
14. To be particularly aware of hazards and safety issues associated with Reception areas and take all preventative measures possible to minimise risk/injury i.e. adhere to Manual Handling Guidelines, receive training on chemicals before use etc.
15. To get involved in any opportunities within the department that will enhance your knowledge and skills.
16. To attend meetings and training sessions as required.
17. To ensure that you provide each Guest (be it directly or indirectly) with the highest levels of personal care and attention in accordance with 5 star expectations and hotel standards
**Duties of the Reception Manager will include**:
- Have previous experience in a similar role within the 5 star hospitality environment
- Demonstrate strong communication skills.
- Have strong attention to detail.
- Have strong leadership & people management skills.
- Have the ability to handle busy situations and manage workload effectively.
- Have a friendly & outgoing personality.
- Be enthusiastic & flexible (need to work 5 days over 7 day period, inclusive of some weekends).
**Requirements**:
- Min 2 years’ experience
- Valid South African Passport
- Clear Criminal record
