Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Strategy and Planning: Develop and implement strategic sales plans to drive business growth in South Africa, focusing on market penetration and revenue targets.
  • Opportunity Identification: Identify new market opportunities and develop strategies to penetrate key markets, leveraging industry trends and customer needs.
  • Competitive Analysis: Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to ensure a competitive edge in the commercial and industrial solar market.
  • Pipeline Management: Ensure a minimum pipeline of $150 million is consistently reviewed, updated, and demonstrates progression across each deal, driving sales activities and forecasting future sales accurately.

Team Leadership and Management
  • Team Development: Lead, inspire, and drive a high-performing business development sales team, dedicating time to each member and providing expert guidance and mentorship to foster a collaborative and supportive sales culture.
  • Performance Monitoring: Set clear sales objectives and KPIs, monitor performance, and provide regular feedback to drive results-oriented behavior and commission-driven excellence in customer service.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver comprehensive solutions that exceed client expectations, aligning business development activities with global sustainability trends and local regulations.

Business Development
  • New Business Pursuits: Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities, expanding Engineered Sourcing's customer base and driving revenue growth in the commercial and industrial solar market.
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead the negotiation and closing of major contracts and strategic partnerships, leveraging industry expertise and relationship-building skills to drive business results.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain strong relationships with industry stakeholders, including government entities and regulatory bodies, to promote Engineered Sourcing's position as a leader in sustainable energy solutions.

Market Intelligence and Reporting
  • Market Insights: Continuously gather intelligence on market conditions, industry trends, and the competitive landscape to inform strategic decision-making and drive business growth.
  • Strategic Reporting: Provide detailed reports and insights to senior management, highlighting key market trends and opportunities for growth, and informing business strategy and development.
  • Sales Tracking: Utilize CRM systems to track sales activities, forecast future sales, and drive sales performance and customer satisfaction.

Sustainability and Innovation
  • Leadership in Sustainability: Drive initiatives that position Engineered Sourcing as a leader in sustainable energy solutions, leveraging industry expertise and relationship-building skills to drive business results and promote sustainability.
  • Encouraging Innovation: Foster a culture of innovation within the team, developing new products and improving existing offerings to drive business growth and customer satisfaction.
  • Global Alignment: Align business development activities with global sustainability trends and local regulations to promote Engineered Sourcing's position as a leader in sustainable energy solutions.

RequirementsEducational Background and Experience:

Essential:
  • 8-10 years professional experience in business development, with a strong understanding of project management, project finance, and business planning.
  • Experience in the solar industry, with a strong network within the South African commercial and industrial segments and the solar industry.
  • Strong understanding of the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) programme and its implications for business development in South Africa.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and other sales-related tools, with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
Preferred:
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in business management or project development in the C&I and/or utility-scale solar PV sector, with a strong track record of driving business growth and revenue expansion.
  • Results-oriented behavior, with a commission-driven team ethos and a commitment to delivering excellence in customer service at all levels.
