About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled leader to join our Senior Management Team as the Executive Director for Africa Programs. This is a unique opportunity to lead our Africa region work and contribute to the growth and success of Ibis Reproductive Health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction and oversight for our Africa region work, ensuring alignment with our organizational goals and objectives.
  • Fundraising and Partnerships: Lead regional fundraising efforts, identifying new funding sources and managing existing donor relationships to secure resources for our key strategic priority activities.
  • Team Management: Build and manage a high-performing team, providing guidance and support to ensure the success of our Africa region projects and programs.
  • External Representation: Serve as a key external spokesperson for our Africa region work, representing Ibis Reproductive Health at regional and global levels.
  • Partnerships and Collaborations: Foster and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders, including governments, civil society organizations, and research institutions, to inform our work and drive impact.
  • Research and Project Management: Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of research projects and programs, ensuring they meet the highest ethical standards and deliver transformative changes for our beneficiaries.
  • Financial Management: Manage regional project budgets, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources in compliance with donor agreements and organizational policies.
Requirements
  • Leadership Experience: At least 7-10 years of leadership experience, with a proven track record of success in a nonprofit or research organization.
  • People Management: Strong people management and supervision experience, with a commitment to mentorship and staff development.
  • Fundraising and Donor Relations: Experience leading fundraising efforts and managing donor relationships, particularly with private foundations and bilateral donors focused on the Africa region.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent facilitation, written, and verbal communication skills, with experience in public speaking and media engagement.
  • Strategic Planning: Experience developing and monitoring progress toward strategic plans, with a commitment to racial justice and equity.
  • Collaboration and Partnerships: A collaborative approach to leadership, with a commitment to transparency in decision-making and a willingness to partner with communities and organizations to drive impact.
  • Research and Project Management: Experience working in a research organization, with training or experience in quantitative or qualitative research methods, and/or experience leading/coordinating clinical and social science research projects.
