Marketing Partnerships Lead

**Position Summary**:
**Major Responsibility**:
- Lead the team of two individuals who manage and service the NBA Africa's marketing partners.
- Develop an understanding of partners' marketing/business goals, objectives, and target audience and integrate these into contractual delivery plans. Manage day-to-day partner activation processes including activation planning and approvals, promotional development, media planning, financials, advertising creation and approval, event coordination and results tracking.
- Develop and leverage strong relationships and build credibility with external partners and their lead agencies.
- Generate and present marketing partner reports to assess partnership ROI. Execute against partnership goals and success metrics, implement a measurement plan, for monitoring effectiveness and providing regular partner reporting.
- Manage team budgets and expenses for marketing partners including assisting in the annual budget planning process; this includes fluency in our financial reporting and pipeline management system.
- Manage all requirements of the NBA Compliance Policy for all partner renewals.
- Support in the identification of areas of opportunity and develop upsell proposals for partners throughout the season.
- When applicable, lead pre-event planning and provide on-site support or activation assistance for any partner events.
- Provide regular updates to senior staff concerning partnership matters, financial status, etc.
- Collaborate with the Head of Business Development & Partnerships to develop long and short-term business plan goals and objectives for NBA Africa.
**Required Skills/Knowledge**:
- Strong leadership, client service and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills; ability to work well within a matrixed environment.
- Ability to think creatively and globally combined with effective management of multiple constituents.
- Strong understanding of sponsorship activation including events, media, marketing rights, content, etc.
- Must be a highly motivated, proactive, self-starter with high energy and team spirit.
- Strong business savvy.
- Strong financial and analytical skills, and ability to create internal and external reports.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Fluency in English required; bi-lingual/ multiple languages preferred.
- A passion for sports and an interest in Basketball.
**Experience Needed**:
- 10+ years of professional experience with significant experience in relevant fields (marketing, advertising, account management and brand management).
- Strong relationships at the C-suite level across Africa
- Prior experience supporting internal and external relationships, developing presentations and thinking creatively is a strong plus.
- Proven track record servicing large clients and building new partnerships. Experience in developing planning tools, budgets, projections, etc.
- Prior experience selling sports properties
- English fluency and the ability to speak French would be a plus.
- A passion for sports and an interest in Basketball.
**Educational Background Required**:
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or equivalent degree preferred.
