Business Development Manager for Merchant Gases

Job Description:
The Sales Engineer will be responsible for driving sales growth in the merchant gases business unit by identifying and acquiring profitable new business opportunities across the KZN Region. This includes developing and implementing effective sales strategies to meet present targets, strategic imperatives, and key performance indicators (KPIs). Additionally, the role involves maintaining and servicing the company's existing regional customer base.
Main Responsibilities:
- Grow company sales through prospecting for new clients in line with set sales targets
- Responsible for stewarding current accounts and ensuring customer satisfaction is delivered and maintained
- Develop and execute marketing initiatives to enhance Air Products market presence
- Ensure adherence to company safety procedures and policies at customer sites, including relevant legislation, and contribute to the management of existing safety programs
- Perform sales administrative duties and general ad hoc tasks
- Drive business and personal development within the sales environment
Requirements:
Education: Grade 12 with Maths, Accounting, Science, English, and Afrikaans; Recognised Certificate/Diploma/Degree in Sales & Marketing
Experience: Minimum 5 years sales experience in gas/chemical/technical or related industry
Licenses and Certifications: A valid unendorsed code 8 driver's license
Skill Requirements: Computer literate in MS Office; Ability to produce written reports on sales activities and good communication skills (verbal & written); Good people and negotiating skills, customer-centric service approach
Additional Requirements: Able and willing to travel and overnight stay over; Knowledgeable of welding, specialty gases, fabrication, bulk processes, and applications to provide gas solutions to market
Estimated Salary: R800,000 - R1,200,000 per annum, depending on experience
