Purpose of the Role

The primary objective of the Pricing Analytics Specialist is to conduct and develop analyses of pricing trends and offerings, transforming these into insightful analytics and actionable recommendations to assist the category management team in achieving its commercial and revenue objectives. This role involves gathering, consolidating, and analyzing complex datasets to generate insights, forecasts, recommendations, and reports aimed at optimizing pricing strategies. Additionally, the specialist will support the Category Insights team with ad hoc reporting and contribute to the development, monitoring, utilization, and training of analytics tools.

Responsibilities

Data and Market Analysis

Collaborate with the Category Insights Manager to generate reports and recalibrate metrics, including competitor analysis, category roles, Key Value Items (KVIs), and target price indices, to provide insights into market dynamics and consumer behavior. Assist in updating tool files following pricing strategy refreshes (e.g., category role mappings, item roles, KVIs, target price indices) to ensure alignment with market trends and consumer preferences. Work with the Analytical Engineer to coordinate updates on competitor data sources, ensuring the accuracy and relevance of data used for competitive analysis.

SKU Relationship Management

Monitor updates related to new Stock Keeping Units (SKUs), revised SKUs, incorrect item relationships, and delisted SKUs within the system. Manage the follow-up process for new SKUs to ensure timely reviews. Organize and facilitate weekly meetings with the core team (Support Specialist, Category Specialists, etc.) to discuss updates and ensure alignment on dependencies. Provide on-demand assistance and expertise to Category Specialists regarding item relationship updates. Investigate flagged "incorrect item relationships" and notify the Master Data team of any discrepancies in the system to ensure smooth operations. Conduct quarterly clean-ups of input sheets to maintain data integrity.

Tool Development and Training

Support the Category Insights Manager by generating monthly reports on tool usage to identify categories with high override percentages. Assist buying teams in creating and monitoring new plans, as well as investigating overrides. Provide input for the development of new functionalities within the analytics tool. Help define training materials, schedules, and engagement strategies with Buyers in collaboration with Trainers and the Category Insights Manager.

Additional Support

Assist the Category Insights Manager and the Head of Category Management in managing exceptions, such as generating reports and facilitating meetings.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field is essential.

Experience

A minimum of 1 year of experience in a Data Analyst or similar role, utilizing data analysis techniques to solve business and technology challenges in a dynamic environment is essential. Experience in applying data mining, modeling, and statistical methodologies to support strategic business goals is essential. Experience in a retail, commercial, or IT setting is highly desirable.

Knowledge and Skills

Proficiency in SQL, Python, and data analysis toolkits is essential. Strong skills in MS Office 365, particularly advanced Excel capabilities, are essential.
