Purpose of the Role

The Pricing Insights Analyst is responsible for conducting comprehensive analyses of pricing trends and offerings, transforming these into actionable analytics and insights that empower the category management team to achieve its commercial and revenue objectives. This role involves gathering, consolidating, and analyzing complex datasets to generate insights, forecasts, recommendations, and reports aimed at optimizing pricing strategies. Additionally, the analyst will support the Category Insights team with ad hoc reporting and contribute to the development, monitoring, utilization, and training of analytics tools.

Key Responsibilities

Data and Competitive Analysis

  • Collaborate with the Category Insights Manager to generate reports and recalibrate metrics, including competitor analysis, category roles, Key Value Items (KVIs), and target price indices, to provide insights into market dynamics and consumer behavior.
  • Assist in the creation and updating of tool files following pricing strategy refreshes, ensuring that the pricing strategy is current and reflective of market changes.
  • Work with the Analytical Engineer to coordinate updates on competitor data sources, ensuring the accuracy and relevance of data used for competitive analysis.

SKU Relationship Management

  • Monitor updates related to new Stock Keeping Units (SKUs), revised SKUs, incorrect item relationships, and delisted SKUs within the system.
  • Manage the follow-up process for timely reviews of new SKUs.
  • Organize and facilitate weekly meetings with the core team to discuss updates and ensure alignment on dependencies.
  • Provide ad-hoc support and expertise to Category Specialists regarding item relationship updates as needed.
  • Investigate flagged incorrect item relationships and notify the Master Data team of any discrepancies to ensure smooth operations.
  • Conduct quarterly clean-ups of input sheets to maintain data integrity.

Tool Development and Training

  • Assist the Category Insights Manager in generating monthly tool usage reports to identify categories with high override percentages.
  • Support buying teams in creating and monitoring new plans, as well as investigating overrides.
  • Provide input for new functionalities in the analytics tool.
  • Aid in defining training materials, schedules, and engagements with Buyers in collaboration with Trainers and the Category Insights Manager.

Additional Support

  • Assist the Category Insights Manager and Head of Category Management in managing exceptions, including generating reports and facilitating meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field – (Essential).

Experience

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a Data Analyst or similar role, applying data analysis techniques in a fast-paced environment – (Essential).
  • Proven experience in data mining, modeling, and applying statistical concepts to support strategic business goals – (Essential).
  • Experience in a retail, commercial, or IT setting is highly desirable.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and data analysis toolkits – (Essential).
  • Strong skills in MS Office 365, particularly advanced Excel capabilities – (Essential).
