Objective of the Role

The primary aim of the Pricing Insights Analyst position is to conduct and develop analyses of pricing trends and offerings, transforming these into valuable analytics and actionable insights that assist the category management team in achieving its commercial and revenue objectives. This role involves gathering, consolidating, and analyzing complex datasets to generate insights, forecasts, recommendations, and reports aimed at optimizing pricing strategies. Additionally, it supports the Category Insights team with ad hoc reporting and contributes to the development, monitoring, utilization, and training of analytics tools.

Responsibilities

Data and Market Analysis

Collaborate with the Category Insights Manager to produce reports and recalibrate metrics, including competitor assessments, category roles, Key Value Items (KVIs), and target pricing indices to derive insights on market dynamics and consumer behavior. Assist in the creation and updating of tool files from pricing strategy refreshes (e.g., category role mappings, item roles, KVIs, target pricing indices) to ensure that the pricing strategy is current and reflective of market changes and consumer trends. Work alongside the Analytical Engineer to coordinate updates on competitor data sources (e.g., when competitors are added or removed) to maintain the accuracy and relevance of competitive analysis data.

SKU Relationship Management

Oversee updates related to the relationships of new Stock Keeping Units (SKUs), revised SKUs, erroneous item relationships, and delisted SKUs in the inventory management system. Manage the follow-up process, including reviews of new SKUs that require timely attention. Organize and facilitate weekly meetings with the core tool team (Support Specialists, Category Specialists, etc.) to discuss updates and ensure alignment on dependencies. Provide on-demand assistance and expertise to Category Specialists regarding item relationship updates. Investigate flagged "incorrect item relationships" reported by Buyers and notify the Master Data team if discrepancies in the inventory management system are identified to ensure operational efficiency. Conduct a quarterly review and cleanup of input sheets.

Tool Development and Training

Support the Category Insights Manager by generating monthly reports on tool usage to identify Buyers/categories with high override percentages. Assist buying teams in developing plans, monitoring new initiatives, and investigating overrides. Contribute to the enhancement of new functionalities within the tool. Aid in defining training materials, schedules, and engagement strategies with Buyers in collaboration with Trainers and the Category Insights Manager.

Additional Support

Assist the Category Insights Manager and the Head of Category Management in managing exceptions, such as generating weekly reports and facilitating support meetings.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related discipline is essential.

Experience

A minimum of 1 year of experience in a Data Analyst or similar capacity, addressing business and technology challenges through data analysis techniques in a dynamic environment is essential. Proven experience in applying data mining, modeling, and statistical methodologies to support strategic business goals is essential. Experience in a retail, commercial, or IT setting is highly desirable.

Knowledge and Skills

Proficiency in SQL, Python, and data analysis toolkits is essential. Strong skills in MS Office 365, particularly advanced Excel capabilities, are essential.
