Cape Town, South Africa Cenfri Full time

**About Cenfri**

Cenfri is an independent African economic impact agency based in Cape Town and Kigali with remote staff based in several other locations. We have a long-term vision to help build inclusive, sustainable systems that enable people and MSMEs to thrive across the developing world. We collaborate with partners to deliver impact through research, innovation, capacity building and convening - with a focus on digital and financial inclusion. Over the last two decades we’ve worked with private foundations, UN agencies, governments, think tanks, multinational companies, universities and tech innovators to deliver meaningful change.

We are a diverse team of around 50 curious, adventurous, creative, caring and impact-driven economists, bankers, lawyers, technologists, communicators, and innovators. Our culture is collaborative, entrepreneurial and innovative.

We have worked across countries in Africa, Latin America and Asia - contributing to inclusive regulation, training regulators and financial service providers, developing innovative products and business models, running innovation competitions, publishing thought leadership and convening decision makers to solve problems together.

**Role summary**

We are looking for a Partnership Manager to lead Cenfri’s partnership and network strategy. You will do this by interrogating Cenfri’s brand and performance in the market and driving innovation in our capabilities, tools and approach to ensure we remain a partner of choice. You will play an instrumental role in our fundraising objectives and will be a core part of the new business development process within Cenfri. The Partnership Manager will take ownership of our client and stakeholder engagement efforts to generate both impact and new business opportunities.

By demonstrating a deep interest in, and understanding of, Cenfri’s work and impact objectives, you will, through professional and effective collaboration, accurately assess client and funder needs to propose meaningful and impactful partnerships for the short-, medium
- and long-term. You will act as a bridge between our project and programme teams and our stakeholders to not only improve the relevance of our work, but also inform future interventions and research based on stakeholder needs.

As a senior team member, you will actively contribute to and shape Cenfri’s operations and strategy in pursuit of impact. The Partnership Manager will have the opportunity to facilitate and incubate new ways and areas of work in support of our development vision. This role will require working closely with different thematic specialists across our team while retaining the flexibility to generate your own opportunities.

The role will require domestic and global travel to explore the challenges faced by our partners and collaborate to meet their impact needs.

**Requirements**:
**Who you are**:

- You are a curious and creative thinker, interested in achieving impact beyond yourself, and with a sustained interest in solving real world problems.
- You enjoy an adventurous and entrepreneurial environment and can inspire your team and clients imagine new opportunities.
- You have the patience to pursue impact over time and would enjoy managing complex projects that deliver on impact objectives.
- You are naturally drawn to the opportunity to “connect the dots” across our existing work and the needs and objectives of our development partners. You relish looking at the bigger picture and would be motivated to ensure that Cenfri is able to find its place in that picture. Being highly collaborative, you appreciate and learn from the perspectives of those who have different backgrounds and skills.
- You are excited by the opportunity to develop the skills of junior team members to help them become effective development professionals and innovators.
- You enjoy crafting persuasive narratives in written and verbal form to engage our partners on how to improve inclusive systems.
- You want to help build and strengthen the business in support of our vision, creating opportunities for future impact founded on trusted networks and quality work.

**Qualifications and experience**

**You have**:

- A minimum of five years’ experience working in financial services, financial inclusion, digital transformation, sustainable finance or a related field
- Experience in fundraising or business development, alternatively demonstrable experience in stakeholder engagement and building partner networks, preferably in the development consulting environment
- Excellent strategic thinking as well as verbal and written communication skills that can inspire teammates and clients
