South Africa Regional Business Director

Gilead Sciences South Africa (Pty) Ltd. is seeking a seasoned leader to serve as General Manager South Africa, leading the Gilead business in the country and driving strategic direction for Gilead's products.
As General Manager South Africa, you will be accountable for achieving company revenue and profit targets, successfully launching new products, and adhering to Gilead's values and local business conduct requirements. You will interface effectively with the GPS team and global teams to ensure strategic alignment with our global product strategies.
The position requires strong leadership skills, with experience in sales, marketing, access, external affairs, and people management. A track record of leading a business within the specialty pharma space and hands-on experience in an operational management position are essential. International experience and cultural versatility are also highly valued.
You will have responsibility for start-up operations, ensuring the implementation of Gilead values and business culture while adapting to South African culture. Maximizing sales and profit growth, preparing budgets, and ensuring timely reporting are key aspects of this role.
In addition, you will coordinate locally the access program for anti-viral and anti-infective portfolio treatments and prevention initiatives. You will position the company with key stakeholders, including health authorities, opinion leaders, policy makers, and payers, developing the company's profile and ensuring it is respected within the industry.
The ideal candidate will have advanced experience with product launches and lifecycle management, especially in the context of specialty products. They will be data-driven in decision-making, able to analyze complex situations, and communicate clearly. The successful candidate will be science-driven, financially astute, and entrepreneurial, with results-driven experience in matrix environments.
