Employee Relations Manager

The Employee / Industrial Relations Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining positive working relationships between AFGRI and our employees. Furthermore, the ER / IR Manager is responsible for facilitating relationships with employee representatives and Trade Unions as well as Community forums with the aim of establishing a positive and engaging working environment. The ER / IR manager will also be responsible for the training and development of managers with regards to conducting disciplinary processes, and will need to educate employees around IR and HR policies and processes. Assisting with all internal disciplinary processes and representing the Company at the CCMA will also be part of the role.
**MINIMUM EDUCATION/TRAINING**
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management / Employment Relations Management
- Hons Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resources Management/Industrial Relations would be an advantage
**MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE**
- 4 years experience in employee relations and industrial relations
- 4 years experience in dealing with Unions
- 4 years experience in dealing with CCMA
**KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS**
- Manage relationships with unions.
- Investigate and resolve complex or critical industrial relations issues in a timely and effective manner.
- Represent the Group at CCMA and resolve disputes at CCMA.
- Function as the lead wage negotiator for the Group.
- Ensure that the Company's management of employees is consistent with its core business values and objectives.
- Ensure that employee relations complaints and grievances are managed in a procedurally fair and consistent manner.
- Facilitate counselling in conjunction with other stakeholders.
- Collate and analyse employee relations feedback across all levels on a regular basis.
- Assist Business Units with disciplinary matters to ensure consistency throughout the organisation.
- Provide IR training to Business Units.
- Revise people programs and policies to generate more positive outcomes.
- Participate in and/or lead projects focused on continuous improvement and provide support to Business Units on HR policies and IR issues
- Analyse and report on the latest IR trends, both internally and externally.
- Proactively ensure compliance on IR-related issues within the organisation.
- Compile presentations on various IR issues and Compile statistical data with regard to disciplinary matters (warnings, counselling, grievances, hearings, disciplinary discussions, conciliations, arbitrations, labour review court cases) for reporting purposes.
- Monthly and Quarterly reporting on all ER and IR matters
**TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE/ COMPETENCIES**
- Strong analytical, negotiation, influencing and problem-solving skills
- Strong knowledge of HR policies and procedures
- Demonstrated skills and experience in dealing with unions and the CCMA
- In-depth knowledge of employment legislation and practices
- Business Acumen

Note: The successful incumbent will be required to travel extensively.
