**Business Development Officer**

**Role**

The Business Development Officer is responsible to develop and implement growth strategies for the achievement of revenue goals with a focus on continuing education programmes. Prospecting and generate leads within the designated market segment and convert them to sales. Achieve sales targets as agreed and budgeted. Build a solid pipeline and qualify the deals using the Sales tracking tool.

**Responsibilities**
- Analyse and benchmark current financial data, such as sales reports, and provide strategies to contain costs and increase revenue.
- Prepare the TICE budget and continually track expenses, as well as make sure it is on track to meet revenue targets.
- Negotiating sales, licensing agreements, raising funds for various projects, sourcing business partners/collaborators and identifying and pitching to potential investors.
- Conduct regular benchmarking for improvement purpose and market research to identify new opportunities and engage with executives to establish strategies for pursuing those new opportunities.
- Developing innovative strategies for attracting and retaining clients
- Deliver pitches and develop proposals for existing and new clients and proactively seek new business opportunities in the market, qualify them and until the deal is closed.
- Ensure proper qualification of deals to correct forecasting.
- Ensure that the business development business processes are developed, managed and kept current.
- Identify client needs and suggest appropriate products/services, where necessary customize product solutions to increase customer satisfaction.
- Always keep clients and other relevant stakeholders updated and respond to their queries regarding the product/service timeously and professionally.
- Provide training and mentoring to members of the business development team, where relevant.
- Assists management in day-to-day coordination and management of business operational activities of TICE.
- Completes other duties as assigned by the Managing Director and report on sales results (weekly/monthly/quarterly).
- Assists in the development and implementation of TICE policies, procedures and standards for continuing education SLPs:

- Takes responsibility to see that the intellectual property of TICE is guarded and maintained, as needed and prepare documentation that may be necessary for reporting to regulators.
- Maintains confidentiality of information accessed in the course of business regarding market demands, clients, students, supervisors or other employees.
- Contributes to a safe educational and working environment by participating in all drills and training and being prepared to act should a health or safety emergency occur.

**Minimum Education, Skills and Abilities**
- Three-year diploma or degree in marketing, finance, accounting or a related field, with a minimum of five years’ experience in business development with some knowledge of educational offerings provision in higher education, including offering SLPs;
- Significant experience in business development.
- Experience in working in a higher education or university, or related environment.
- Experience in working in a service industry as leader of or part of a marketing or sales or business development team.
- Proven track record of closing deals and achieving sales targets.
- A general understanding of the higher education regulatory environment.
- Ability to communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse business and university community.
- Capable of raising issues arising from business development and requiring coordination with other colleagues etc;
- Oral and written communication skills; and
- A strong entrepreneurial spirit.
