UWM 63/23 Head Special Projects & Innovation

Requirements:

  • A B degree in Engineering or Natural Sciences, e.g. Chemistry,
Chemical, Civil or Environmental Engineering or Environmental

Sciences

  • At least 6 years' relevant experience
  • Senior Management level experience/exposure (advantageous)
  • A valid Code B or EB driver's licence
  • Exposure to a Waste Management environment will be
advantageous.

Key Performance Areas

  • Implement and oversee internal and external compliance auditing
  • Develop internal benchmarking standards by conducting
environmental audits

  • Oversee and provide support in gas emission and ground
water monitoring

  • Liaise with internal and external service providers on
disposal related projects

  • Project and contract management experience
  • Manage an expenditure budget for opex and capex projects
  • Facilitate and develop standard operating procedures
  • Develop a performance management system and the
associated performance measures

  • Continuously survey legislation and permit conditions under
the jurisdiction of the Department of Water and Sanitation

and Department of Environmental Affairs

  • Conduct research and investigations to obtain information for
the design of substantial or complex programmes

  • Create vehicles for knowledge management
  • Evaluate waste information, performance and modus operandi
  • Facilitate and coordinate the publication of user guide
information internally and externally provincially, interest

groups and consultants

  • Implement and review SOP's in terms of minimum waste disposal
  • Increase representation and participation of the department
with relevant and effected stakeholders

  • Implement and oversee effective implementation of all
research and development initiatives within the Branch.
