Social video specialist business based in South Africa, Special Effects Media, is looking for an experienced and energetic social media mind to join their growing team in an exciting management function.

The social media world is incredibly dynamic. It is constantly changing and the opportunities that open up for brands grows exponentially daily.

As a social video specialist business, Special Effects Media wants to ensure we deliver world-class social media and specialist video platform (YouTube, TikTok) work to our customers to drive the industry forward.

The head of social media/senior social media lead is responsible for maintaining that high level of expertise throughout the business through the effective management of a team of platform specialists, social media managers, community managers and assistants, while also getting to work on a select few customers hands-on to ensure that at a high level, the social media services and platform-specific services we offer remain world-class, solves client problems and sets the business up for success in the social video world.

Responsibilities:

Meeting with prospective and current clients to build high-level social media strategies for campaigns, always-on or project-based work.

Developing and implementing strategic plans to meet the customer's request across the full suite of platforms (Instagram, facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Twitter etc).

Managing a group of partner managers (platform specialists), junior partner managers, social media managers and community managers to ensure they feel energised and deliver excellent value to the business and we maintain a high standard of YouTube and other platform expertise.

Identifying opportunities for improvement and proposing new tools and processes. This includes regular training for teams and clients.
Providing superior customer service and ensure client satisfaction.
Communicating and coordinating with internal teams to deliver solutions for campaigns, content calendars etc.
Supporting sales teams on initial strategies.
Developing and maintaining excellent knowledge and understanding of our business, offerings, competitors and industry.
For some clients, act as a platform specialist (e.g. a YouTube specialist) and be able to execute all related tasks with the support of the team and its specialists where needed.
Working with content teams to develop content ideas and/or create basic static content with available tools (Canva).
Keeping abreast of all platform and industry-related news and insights.
Attending and conducting internal training.
Attend management meetings and contribute to the overall vision of the business.

Required:

A qualification in digital marketing, advertising or a related field.
Three + years of relevant experience in digital marketing or related environment.
Three + years experience in managing people as a direct line manager or team lead.
A requisite amount of in-agency experience.

Proficiency in YouTube strategy and implementation - proficiency in leveraging YouTube for brand building, ability to build YouTube strategies, execute SEO strategies for titles/descriptions, know-how and when to use YouTube Ads, upload content to best practice, pull and analyse analytics, copyright and monetisation set-up/management.

Strong knowledge of other social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, tikTok, Twitter and LinkedIn for digital marketing.
Experience with working closely with clients on brand projects and managing client expectations and deliverables.

Proficiency in Google Workspace:
Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Drive, Google Calendar etc.
Basic knowledge of how to create and design presentations on Canva.
Experience overseeing simultaneous and multiple projects/tasks.
Ability to lead a team, delegate tasks and manage a project from start to finish.
Understanding of current market trends.
Ability to multitask and juggle several responsibilities simultaneously.
Strong written and verbal professional communication skills.
Organisational skills and great attention to detail.
