What you can expect


The successful incumbent will be responsible for managing strategic accounts and distributors, as well as actively pursuing refinish business development opportunities in Sub Sahara Africa.

The LSAM will also be responsible for improving relations with the OEM ́s, auditors and other influencers in the local refinish market.


Duties will include the following:

  • Being the Main point of contact for OEM After Sales Managers and appointed Auditors
  • Local contact for the central refinish coatings team for OEM, MSO, auditor and general strategic influencer related topics
  • Managing international and local tenders initiated by OEMs or Local MSOs
  • Annual longterm business planning based on acquisition targets for sales in Sub Sahara Africa and existing distributors and local OEM volume planning
  • Annual price planning for sales in Sub Sahara Africa, distributors and local OEMs to achieve goals and profitability
  • Defining acquisition targets based on product type and local OEM volume planning ensuring profitable growth
  • Defining and implementing sales & localisation strategy with local OEMs
  • Providing analysis and strategy for entry into new markets, e.g. Sub Sahara Africa
  • Develop VfM (Value for Money) strategy and implement with a focus on retaining margin in core markets and pursuing growth in other areas
  • Support lobbying work in the industry and in selected associations and foster suitable partnerships
  • Implement sale & marketing strategies, policies, tactics and plans, pricing structure, target accounts to achieve goals and profitability
  • Conduct market research to develop market intelligence (customer portfolio, market map and analysis on performance and competition)
  • Provide technical advice, recommendations and troubleshooting support to customers in conjunction of the regional technical manager in order to introduce and promote products
  • Influence decisionmakers in a complex environment within and outside BASF on all levels, and drive actions and decisions
  • Support Management Projects for different functions, e.g. Supply Chain

What we expect

  • A university qualification, a Masters degree advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role in a demanding environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good knowledge of the BASF structure / standards and guidelines advantageous
  • Valid Driver's License (Code 08)
  • A Confident and articulate communicator capable of inspiring strong collaboration in an organization
  • Strong Project Management skills
