Our client, a renowned Corporate Insurance Firm, is on the lookout for a Strategic Account Manager to drive business growth within the Commercial Insurance Sector.


  • Your role as the strategic account manager is to provide specialised information and services in the area of specialisation to a portfolio of clients.
  • Key Areas of Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for delivering on the agreed plan for the business unit/ area of specialty in line with the clients strategy.
  • Responsible for leading, developing and improving the day to day client relationship of high premium clients and within the scheme.
  • Responsible for a portfolio of client accounts.
  • Manages and coordinates all related activities including building a "client profile" of risks and needs analysis.
  • Structures an insurance programme to meet the needs of clients including:
  • producing client documentation.
- leading or contributing to renewal meetings.
- leading or contributing to fee negotiation.

  • Responsible for leading the tender processes (where applicable) within the area of specialty.
  • Responsible for maintaining and improving client satisfaction, retention, revenue and profitability including fee negotiation.
  • Responsible for analysing and interpreting the markets/ relevant industries for competitive advantage and emerging opportunities.
  • Responsible for compliant dealings with clients.
  • Upholds development of new business either with existing or new clients identifies opportunities for increasing revenue and follows up appropriately.
  • Coordinates for teams of Client Service Advisors/ Client Managers to ensure client service standards are met.
  • Responsible for managing financials for a portfolio of clients and/ or for area of specialty.
  • Responsible for all technical advice and/ or related training within the area of specialty.
  • Key Requirements: Qualifications:
  • Be in a possession of a bachelor's degree.
  • Have an insurance related tertiary qualification.
  • Must be registered as a representative with the FSCA in terms of the FAIS Act.
  • Must be registered as an associate with the IISA.

Knowledge:

  • Strategic knowledge of industry and business strategies and company goals.
  • Knowledge of insurance solutions across the full spectrum of business enterprises in South Africa.
  • Good understanding of applicable legislative environment governing the industry.
  • Working knowledge of risk analysis methodologies.
  • Knowledge of underwriting and claims administration/management, including dealing with complex claims.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in and with teams.

Experience:

  • Have a minimum of 15year relevant experience within the insurance industry
  • Have significant related experience.
  • Proven record of achievement in the provision of risk management and insurance solutions across the full spectrum of business enterprises in South Africa.
  • Experience in financial planning, forecasting and budgeting.
