The successful candidate will have a strong background in environmental law, extensive experience in managing complex litigation matters, and a deep commitment to social and environmental justice. They will be responsible for leading the programme team, providing strategic direction, and overseeing work with regulators, corporates, and other stakeholders to drive change and improve practice.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the programme's strategic plan, aligned with C40 Cities' overall objectives.
  • Provide expert legal advice and guidance on programme activities and initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key partners and stakeholders to advance the programme's goals.
  • Lead the programme team, ensuring effective management and coordination of programme activities.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in law or equivalent qualification.
  • Admission as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa with at least 5 years' post-qualification litigation experience.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental laws and regulations.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading teams and managing complex projects.
