Human Resources Director – Contract Position – HR Support

Kerston Foods, a well-established Food Services company in South Africa, is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to fill a contract position providing maternity cover. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the HR function, including recruitment, employee relations, payroll administration, and performance management.

Job Overview

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruitment and Selection: Develop job specifications, manage recruitment processes, and provide support for final decision-making.
  • Induction and Onboarding: Coordinate induction programs, probation management, and related support services.
  • Employment Administration: Assist with payroll preparation, ensure compliance with employment legislation, and perform related administrative duties.
  • Staff Relations: Foster positive relationships with employees, drive the development of a coherent system of managing relationships, and ensure statutory compliance.
  • Policies and Procedures: Maintain and update HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with format and current practices.
  • Performance Management: Facilitate the development and refinement of performance management practices and their outcomes.
  • HR Analysis and Reporting: Provide meaningful information, analysis, and reports to inform HR decision-making.
  • Administration: Provide administrative support, coordinate meetings, and assist with bottlenecks within shared services.
  • Development Support: Facilitate development needs analysis and subsequent development support.
Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • A 3-year formal Human Resources or related qualification.
  • Advanced computer literacy, with emphasis on MS Office and Excel skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA) and working knowledge of labour legislation.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Human Resources, with at least 2 years in an established HR function covering all aspects of professional HR management.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is R850,000 per annum, based on industry standards and the company's location in South Africa. This amount may vary depending on factors such as location, qualifications, and experience.
