Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Packhouse Manager to lead our packhouse operations. As the Packhouse Operations Director, you will oversee the entire process of receiving, sorting, and packaging fruits for dispatch to customers.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in managing soft fruit/berry packhouses, with a proven track record of meeting production targets while ensuring high-quality products and maintaining excellent health and safety standards.

About the Role
The Packhouse Operations Director will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing planning processes to meet packing forecasts;
- Ensuring compliance with cold chain protocols and maintenance schedules;
- Managing productivity, labor, and quality processes;
- Sound leadership and direction to ensure quality product output, accuracy, and consistency;
- Maintaining and improving overall packaging operations;
- Managing compliance with packing regulations, health and safety, and other legislative requirements;
- Building and implementing best practice policies and principles;
- Developing and training a team of packhouse staff.
Requirements
To be successful as a Packhouse Operations Director, you must have:
- Tertiary qualification;
- A minimum of 5 years of working experience as a Packhouse Manager in a soft fruit/berry packhouse;
- Excellent management experience;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills;
- Good numerical and planning skills;
- Self-discipline, teamwork, honesty, and integrity;
- Ability to work under minimal supervision while meeting set targets and deadlines;
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends;
- Experience in HACCP, BRC, or other quality systems would be advantageous;
- Experience in managing soft fruit (labor-intensive) packhouses would be advantageous.
What We Offer
We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on experience, along with opportunities for career growth and professional development.
