About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled General Laboratory Assistant to join our team at the South African National Blood Service. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, delivering and collecting blood bank hampers, as well as performing routine bio-hazardous waste disposal and cleaning duties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Blood Hamper Management: Ensure timely preparation, delivery and collection of blood bank hampers according to established protocols.
  • Waste Disposal and Cleaning: Perform routine bio-hazardous waste disposal and cleaning duties in accordance with relevant SOPs.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with inventory management tasks, including stock counting and tracking.
  • Daily Laboratory Duties: Perform daily laboratory duties, including sample processing and testing.
Requirements:
  • Education: Grade 12 with Maths and Science subjects
  • Skills: Attention to detail, problem-solving, ethical behavior and personal development
  • Physical Requirements: General physical health and reasonable endurance and mobility
