About the Role
Farm Manager SA is seeking a seasoned Strategic Human Resources Leader to join our team. As a key member of our management team, you will play a critical role in driving business success through effective people management.
Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and implementing strategic human resources initiatives that support the business's strategic plans, including talent management. This will involve providing advisory support to line managers, ensuring they have a deep understanding of all policies, procedures, labour legislation, and related processes.
You will also provide leadership and effective day-to-day management of the human resources function, including the implementation of the company's employment equity plans in line with the strategic business plan. Additionally, you will influence management decisions positively by contributing, interpreting, and analysing relevant HR information and metrics.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive and implement strategic human resources initiatives to support business objectives.
- Provide advisory support to line managers on HR-related matters.
- Lead and manage the human resources function effectively.
- Implement employment equity plans in line with the business strategy.
- Influence management decisions through data-driven insights.
- Promote and facilitate team processes, including performance management.
- Design and manage HR processes to ensure agility and responsiveness.
- Manage dispute resolution, including Labour Court cases.
- Engage with labour unions and community structures on employee relations.
- Apply labour legislation on discipline, dismissals, and other HR matters.
- Support line management in recruitment and selection.
- Identify key roles to ensure business resourcing.
- Proactively respond to changing resourcing needs.
- Develop and implement retention strategies.
- Manage people development strategies, including driver training and management development.
- Ensure accurate management reporting.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent tertiary qualification.
- At least 5 years of HR management experience, with a focus on employee relations in a unionized environment.
- Experience in negotiating and implementing collective agreements, as well as exposure to national bargaining councils.
- Dispute resolution experience, particularly representing businesses at the Labour Courts and labour institutions.
- Exposure to Human Resources Information Systems and Payroll Systems.
- Relevant generalist experience at a management/senior level.
- Computer literacy.
- Strong English written and verbal communication skills.
Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of R1,200,000 - R1,500,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, plus benefits.
