Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Department Manager to join our team at Leroy Merlin. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and supporting a team of Customer Assistants, contributing to customer satisfaction and the overall results of the department.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a team of Customer Assistants to achieve sales and customer service targets.
  • Develop and implement business strategies to drive sales growth and improve customer experience.
  • Manage daily sales and customer relations, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Build and implement the Business Action Plan of the department, introducing efficiency and improvement measures.
  • Ensure the day-to-day management of the department is aligned with the customer promise.
  • Coordinate and contribute to sales activities in store, ensuring quality customer relationships.
  • Develop and update own skills and knowledge to stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.
  • Assume leadership role on behalf of the HOD when not available, ensuring seamless continuity of operations.

Requirements

The successful candidate should have the following skills, experience, and attributes:

  • Minimum Matric or NQF4 Equivalent.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification will be an added advantage.
  • Previous retail experience at a junior management level.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and lead a high-performing team.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with a customer-centric approach.
  • Self-confident, hardworking, and leads by example.
  • Assertive and challenge status quo, with a sense of responsibility and analytical skills.
