Configuration Officer

**KEY PURPOSE OF JOB**

NewSpace Systems is a product development and manufacturing aerospace engineering company in Somerset West and has a permanent position for a configuration officer. This person will be responsible for leading and executing the Configuration Management effort required by the Employer in aerospace projects from initiation, through all the phases to closure, in cooperation with project teams consisting of team members across a number of functional areas within the organization.

**KEY TASKS**
- Establish and maintain the Configuration Management and Engineering change processes
- Maintain Acceptance Review, Document and Issue management processes for client
- Perform Configuration Management work on projects this includes:

- Product structure
- Baseline & ECR/ECO (Engineering Change Processes)
- Lifecycle and Document control
- Administration of the SharePoint Database
- Migration of server data to SharePoint
- Provide SharePoint training and desktop support
- Provide Data Management infrastructure to Engineers
- Create and Implement best practices processes as per CM Plan
- Provide process training when required
- Draft a Configuration Management Plan which includes:

- Naming and Numbering, Document Validation and Release, Change and Revision management, and as Planned - As Released baselines
- Monitor and update implemented procedures
- Responsible for the process definitions within and management of the PDM documentation life cycle tool
- Responsible for accurate and timely transfer of configuration control elements from PDM to Syspro ERP system.
- Responsible for the allocation of new NSS stock codes to components, parts and documentation
- Responsibility for data integrity within PDM and Syspro
- Accountable for configuration control of all relevant documentation such as hardware, software, and mechanical.
- Assist in identifying which components will be considered as configuration items
- Participate in process audits, and improve process flows where necessary- Other ad-hoc duties as required by the company.

PREREQUISITES

**QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE**
- Bachelor’s degree/or diploma in Engineering or Science
- 5+ years of experience working in a configuration role

**Experience & Knowledge**:

- Computer literate and use of software tools essential
- Analytical thinking & structured work
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work with an interdisciplinary team of systems, electrical, mechanical, software, and test engineers
- Ability to identify and comprehend document relationships and dependencies for a complex product.
- Ability to prepare and deliver written and oral presentations.
- Experience with configuration management tools.
- Strong analytical skills
- Syspro experience
- PDM experience
