Chief Financial Officer

**Objective**: The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will lead financial and administrative functions to optimize the asset’s long-term financial performance. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with contracts, permits, and regulations, and managing project documentation. Additionally, the CFO will integrate Finance, IT, and contract administration, aiming to improve existing processes and maximize profitability. Immediate stakeholder support is essential. We seek an energetic, proactive CFO to revitalize operations, collaborate with management, and build strong stakeholder relationships.
**QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE**
- Either an **engineering degree or** financial background with a business qualification.
- At least **10 years** of experience in commercial management or general management role combined with the instinct and tenacity to commercially manage a coal-fired power plant.
- Proven negotiation and contract management skills.
- Financial management and planning
- Preferably, a background in the independent power industry

- Board of Directors
- Assist with information in the preparation of financial models.
- Assist with the investigation of financing and loan structuring issues and commitments and ensure Company has taken the most optimal strategic position in terms of its debt commitments.
- Ensure financial goals and operational performance as targeted by Company Management and **the Board** **of Directors are met**:
- Assist in the preparation of the Annual Operating Plan and budget with inputs from all relevant teams
- Determine that appropriate financial reporting/management systems are in place, which fulfil the requirements of Management, shareholders, tax authorities, and other governmental authorities and ensure compliance and overall conformity to standard practice
- Assume responsibility for full compliance with all finance and support reporting requirements, including statutory requirements, monthly, quarterly and annual requirements and lender requirements
- Monitor the Company’s cash management, provide accurate cash flow forecast and manage treasury function including the investment of surplus funds
- Work closely with Plant Manager to advice on all aspects of Company’s current performance, future outlook and level of indebtedness.
- Be aware of Company financial performance at all times and be prepared to proactively communicate variances from the budget plan to affected parties including Leaders, Plant Manager, and Commercial Manager.
- Assist with updating the project model, ensuring accurate input, output and forecasting, including seamless roll up into regional and corporate models and in time take on full ownership of the model
- Ensure adequate attention and preparation is devoted to the development of information packs, agendas and minutes for Company and GGAP Board of Directors meetings
- **Provide hands on leadership and a “whatever it takes” attitude at all times.**:
- Understand the structure of the Business and the commercial aspects of company.
- Always ensure reports comply with relevant Generally Accepted Accounting Practices **(GAAP)** including South African and United Kingdom **GAAP and IFRS.**:
- Choose and counsel the decision makers with regard to financial and accounting issues
- Ensure Team members develop and deliver an accurate, effective, efficient, and timely financial reporting package and develop a process/procedure to ensure this happens.
- Develop and maintain procedures to ensure accurate forecasting of revenue and expenditure
- Review and approve **Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Financial** Statements & make presentations to other business people and the Africa Group.
- Provide advice on business strategy.
- Lead and manage the co-ordination of annual audit of both Company and **GGAP**:
- Ensure adherence to designed internal control systems via compliance programmes and projects to improve efficiency of company systems.
- Ensure all statutory returns, including those related to labour issues are submitted on a timely basis
- Ensure monthly reconciliation & journals are performed, and check for accuracy
- Ensure accuracy, correctness & timely distribution of invoices to debtors
- Review and approve salaries and wages and ensure that reconciliation’s are performed.
