B2b Sales Manager

Our clients is an importer, agent and distributor of raw materials that are sold into the food, personal care and animal feed industries. They are looking for a sales manager in their Johannesburg offices based in Rivonia. They will be reporting to and working closely with the Sales Director as well as working with the rest of the sales team.
**Key responsibilities**
- Develop a basic understanding of each customer’s business
- Develop an understanding of each customers ordering patterns, buying cycles etc.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of competitors
- Develop understanding of market conditions for the various products they offer
- Quoting - preparation of costings, understanding of stock positions and ability to follow up on offers timeously
- Submission of samples and follow up
- Participating in sales meetings and developing strong integration with Durban and Cape Town regions
- Engaging with foreign suppliers (price requests, market information, general ad hoc, etc.)
- Developing a basic product knowledge and looking to build on that knowledge over time
- Price setting (together with the full sales team)
- Forecasting (together with the sales team)
- Identifying opportunities that may be of interest to the business
- Stock management - understanding stock positions, what is available to sell, expiry dates etc.
- Develop understanding of sales report and monitor regularly
- Participating in projects, research and new product development
- Assisting admin team in collection of late payments if the need arises

- Presentable, reliable, good with people
- Must have own transport that is reliable and presentable
- Willing to travel domestically as and when required
**Qualifications and experience**
- Tertiary qualification preferable
- B2B Sales experience with proven track record preferably in FMCG or food related
- Experience in the food industry preferable but not essential
- Competent computer skills
- Organised, able to manage own time
- Confident in front of customers and foreign suppliers
- Good command of the English language
