The CEO will articulate the plans (short, medium, and long term) to achieve the strategy and objectives of the association.

Identify key challenges facing their association and design the appropriate strategies and interventions to achieve the association's goal.

Ensure that risk management strategies are in place and that compliance is effectively managed.

Ensure sound corporate governance principles.

Ensure that the association is adequately capitalized.

Provide assurance to the board of directors of the financial soundness of the association.

Provide strategic support to the executive team and inspire them to deliver key performance.

Ensure that the stakeholders are managed effectively, and their feedback and suggestions are incorporated into business strategy where possible.


Develop a wide range of relationships and networks with local national and international industry to position said South African forestry association as a well-known and credible organization throughout the industry.

Represent the association at industry events, government meetings, and other relevant forums.

Manage the day-to-day operations of the association, including financial management, membership recruitment and retention, and staff.

Supervision

Foster strong relationships with members, industry partners, and other stakeholders.

Stay current with industry trends and best practices and provide guidance and support to members as needed.

Qualification

Post graduate qualification, in forestry, agriculture or business and marketing will be advantageous

Experience

10 years of experience in the forestry industry, with a focus on contracting.

Experience in budgeting and forecasting

Experience in advocacy and government relations

Must have worked in similar industries or work environments (e.g Consulting firms, Construction, Associations)

Skills:

Strong financial management skills

Proven track record of leadership and strategic planning

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
