We are looking for a creative and critical thinker, who will be responsible for the development of the communications and media strategy and amplifying the work of the company on all media platforms.


Purpose of the Role


The Communication and Marketing Manager will be responsible to lead mass communication campaigns, raising the public awareness and engagement around the company's Behavioural Change Campaign across a broad range of broadcast, print, digital and social media channels to promote and amplify our work to various target audiences.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop annual organisational communications and media strategy
  • Delivery of a range of communications for the Campaign in support of its objectives including both digital and nondigital elements, press and media work ensuring the communications activity links to key campaigns outputs
  • Manage the Campaign's brand and identity ensuring appropriate and consistent use of logo and systems to ensure easy retrieval of key content and assets.
  • Devise, lead and report on monthly PR strategy
  • Manage communication drives and campaign budgets
  • Implement a powerful storytelling approach across all channels and audiences,
  • Creating written material of the highest quality including press releases, statements, written materials, blogs, articles, briefings, social media content and video scripts
  • Monitor, evaluate and report back on media and PR activities, feeding into the wider evaluation and recommending improvement to the media and PR work based on learning and feedback
  • Management of supplier relationships for communications (design, digital and PR suppliers or freelancers) to ensure they provide quality work to budget and time
  • Drive the creation and production of corporate and promotional material.
  • Drive the strategy and production of videos, TV, radio and advertisements.
  • Create television inserts from start to finish
  • Develop feedback and interactive mechanisms with beneficiaries reached through TV programmes
  • Drive and/or support the crafting of press releases (writes, reviews and edits), ensuring that the company has a robust press presence
  • Drive and /or support the crafting of additional editorial (writes, reviews and edits).
  • Drives and/or supports the securing of opeds (reviews and edits), radio and TV interviews, supports events and speaking opportunities, supports the updating of the company media list and supports archiving of communication materials.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors' degree in Marketing or Communications or a related field
  • At least 5 years' experience in a Communications Specialist /Strategist role
  • Prior experience with all of the following:
  • Proven success in designing and executing communications strategies.
  • Production of print and digital materials.
  • Content creation including writing and editing.
  • Media engagement.
  • Must be familiar with MS Office
  • Advanced Excel competencies
  • Masterful written and oral communication skills
  • Must be passionate about literacy, making a difference and about social justice.
  • Driven to collaborate and partner respectfully across departments to deliver effective communication both internally and externally.
  • Highly proactive with strong selfleadership.
  • Pioneering and resilient, yet flexible and open to working within a fastpaced environment with high demands.
  • Driven selfstarter, able to work proactively and independently.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong planning, decision making and problemsolving skills.

  • Ability to communicate (verbal and written) in English and at least one additional African language
