Technical Sales Engineer – Upat (fischer Fixing Systems)

Location: Johannesburg, South Africa

Upat is looking for a
Technical Sales Engineer
to join our team and help grow our presence in the construction and engineering markets through fischer Fixing Systems.

This role combines technical expertise, client engagement, and project support to drive sales and strengthen our brand.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Consultation & Client Engagement

  • Meet with engineers, architects, and construction professionals to understand their needs and recommend suitable fischer Fixing Systems solutions.
  • Translate customer requirements into technical proposals, specifications, and documentation.
  • Conduct on-site tensile tests to demonstrate product reliability and address technical concerns.
  • Investigate failures on construction sites involving anchor bolts and fixings, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Evaluate and sign off on drawings where fischer products are specified, ensuring compliance with industry standards (PrEng registration required).

2. Project Tracking & Specification

  • Monitor construction projects to identify opportunities for fischer products and other Upat offerings.
  • Provide technical advice to improve project outcomes and ensure proper product specifications.

3. Brand Promotion & Market Analysis

  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and competitor offerings.
  • Collaborate with fischer product development teams to provide customer feedback and contribute to product improvements.
  • Support marketing initiatives to increase brand visibility and establish fischer as the preferred choice for fixings in construction projects.

4. Training & Education

  • Develop and conduct training sessions for engineers and architects, both online and in-person.
  • Collaborate with universities to integrate fischer products into curricula or research projects.

5. Content Creation & Marketing Support

  • Write technical articles highlighting product benefits, applications, and case studies.
  • Work with the Marketing team to produce videos showcasing product features, installation guides, and project success stories.

6. Team Collaboration

  • Provide technical support and guidance to the sales team to enhance customer service and strengthen client relationships.
  • Collaborate professionally with colleagues to maintain a positive working environment.

Requirements

  • B.Eng (or equivalent) in Civil, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline.
  • PrEng (Professional Engineer) registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
  • Strong technical knowledge of fixing systems, anchors, and construction materials.
  • Excellent communication and client engagement skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage projects, and solve complex technical challenges.
  • Willingness to travel and conduct on-site demonstrations.
