Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Cape Town for a Head Chef at The Hyde Hotel. The Head Chef will oversee all kitchen operations, including menu planning, food preparation, and ensuring that meals are of the highest quality and presentation. The role includes managing kitchen staff, maintaining kitchen hygiene standards, controlling stock and food costs, and ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations. The Head Chef will also be responsible for fostering a positive and collaborative team environment in the kitchen.
Qualifications
- Culinary expertise, including a strong background in preparing a variety of cuisines and knowledge of modern cooking techniques.
- Experience in kitchen management, including staff training, scheduling, and team leadership skills.
- Proficiency in menu planning, inventory management, and cost control to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
- Commitment to hygiene and food safety standards to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Strong communication skills, creativity in menu development, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced hotel environment.
- A culinary qualification or degree and prior experience as a Head Chef or in a similar leadership role is preferred.
- Customer-focused approach and a passion for delivering an exceptional dining experience.
