JOB TITLE: TECHNICAL SUPPORT, BULK MATERIALS HANDLING, SOUTH AFRICA

We are seeking a Technical Support, Bulk Materials Handling to join our Technical Support Team. The successful candidate will form part of the Technical Support Services – Africa team, in support of the Sales Areas for the Africa Market Area (AMA), resulting in the provision of technical solutions to support a sale.

Bulk Materials Handling (BMH) is one of the products under the Grinding, Bulk and Pyro (GBP) portfolio, which requires technical competence as well as sales orientated drive to assist in pushing the sale through. This role is pivotal in terms of aligning the Global Product Line specialists with the Market Area (MA) sales teams.

Essentially, the Technical Support role works with the Sales Area to effectively deliver a “technical solution” that meets the customer’s needs and works closely with the Global Technical Bulk Materials Handling Business Line.

This position is mainly located in Centurion, Gauteng.

TEAM YOU BELONG TO

- You will join the Technical Support Team and work closely with internal and external stakeholders, such as Management, Product Line Engineering, Other Engineers, Suppliers and Sub-Contractors, Clients, and Site Staff.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Providing high technical expertise in the area of troubleshooting, process knowledge, technical incidents, operation, and maintenance for BMH, predominantly yard machines. Through site visits and using Digital and Remote services (i.e. Augmented Reality).
- Specializing to own technology areas in order to provide expertise support in site operations and technology-related incidents and inquiries or problems.
- Technical warranty and complaint handling.
- Act as a trainer for internal/external technical trainings, including certification program.
- Expertise support for problem management, technical sales support, R&D, and product development.
- Expertise support for Field Service, Life Cycle Services teams.
- Support IB Validation; CTO and ETO quotation development through solution definition and technical research; inspection report reviews, recommendations, and solutions as requested.
- Support Customer Logistics team with quotation clarifications.
- Internal and external training.
- Understanding, planning, and meeting the training requirements for internal and external customers (PL training material).

WHO YOU ARE

- Matric (Grade 12).
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 5 years field experience in BMH or,
- B.Tech / BSc / BEng with a minimum of 5 years field experience.
- Must have experience of applications in BMH yard machines, stacker reclaimers/tipplers.
- Must have up-to-date understanding & knowledge as a technical product specialist.
- Understanding and experience of sales and financials.
- Familiarity with a broad range of upgrades and modernisations.
- Familiar with the core processes of the sales process.
- Experience in complex relationships.

- Ability to travel regularly.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, and balance.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, colour vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Use of keyboards, telephones, copiers, telefax, visits and movement through shops, and travel experiences.
