Job Description

The Lab Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling laboratory operations. This includes managing operational performance, revenue and expense control, and ensuring compliance with company policies and business guidelines.

  1. Laboratory Operations Management: Plan, organize, and lead laboratory operations to ensure efficient use of resources.
  2. Operational Performance Management: Monitor and manage laboratory operations to achieve set targets and objectives.
  3. Financial Management: Responsible for revenue and expense control, in line with business strategies.
  4. Strategic Planning: Set annual budget targets in collaboration with the Area Manager.
  5. Pricing Policies: Responsible for pricing policies in conjunction with the Area Manager.
  6. Human Resources Management: Ensure adequate and appropriate manpower resources are available for total operational efficiency.
  7. Quality Management: Effectively manage and continuously improve the quality management system.
  8. Accounting and Finance: Control accounts receivable and DSO for laboratory operations.
  9. Fleet Management: Responsible for fleet management.
  10. Safety and Health: Responsible for the effective implementation of SGS QHSE systems.
  11. Customer Liaison: Ensure liaison and technical support to all present and potential clients.
  12. Complaint Resolution: Assist the Area Manager with complaints and claim resolution.
  13. Techical Support: Assist the Area Manager with technical and sales support as well as proposal coordination.
  14. Professional Development: Keep abreast of new trends, current developments, and relevant research.
  15. Client Meetings: Attend all meetings as per client requirements.
  16. Team Meetings: Conduct relevant monthly meetings with supervisors, support staff, and employees.
Qualifications and Experience
  1. Degree/Diploma: Degree/Diploma in Chemistry (preferably).
  2. Secondary Education: Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science.
  3. Training and Certification: TQMS qualification advantageous.
