Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Game Farm Manager to join our team at Thungela Resources plc. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of our game farms, ensuring compliance with our Land Management Strategy and optimising financial efficiency.

Your primary focus will be on managing game species, breeding programs, and hunting activities while ensuring adherence to relevant laws and regulations. You will also be responsible for conducting regular inspections, managing rates and taxes, and liaising with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategies to maintain the welfare of game species in accordance with hunting regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with Land Management Strategy for leased properties.
  • Manage lease renewals and ensure timely completion.
  • Provide assistance with managing servitudes with farmers.
  • Conduct regular inspections of properties under responsibility.
  • Identify and mitigate potential land claim risks to ensure secure and uninterrupted land use.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships regarding estate matters and prospecting issues.
  • Oversee game species management, breeding programs, and hunting activities.
  • Drive compliance with all relevant laws and regulations governing wildlife conservation and land management.
Requirements
  • Diploma/Degree in Nature Conservation, Environmental Sciences, or similar relevant tertiary education (NQF Level 7).
  • Membership of Wildlife Ranching and Rare Breeders Association would be advantageous.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Wildlife Management, Agriculture (NQF Level 8) would be advantageous.
