Job Title: Technical Support Engineer

ABC Worldwide is seeking a highly skilled Technical Support Engineer to join our team in Cape Town. As a key member of our sales support team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the success of our business by providing exceptional technical support to our sales staff and customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide active technical support to sales staff in the preparation of sales offers, focusing on technical and application aspects.
  • Offer technical selling, consultation, and support to customers regarding our Solar PV products and systems in both commercial and residential markets.
  • Deliver technical on-site and telephonic support to customers, ensuring prompt resolution of technical issues.
  • Conduct repairs and assessments of products in our Service Centre, as well as manage product return processes.
  • Prepare quotations, client follow-ups, product and stock consultations, and order confirmations to clients.
  • Support the Department Manager in implementing new products and services, ensuring seamless integration into our operations.
  • Stay up-to-date with internal knowledge on new products or updates and changes, processing and presenting this information in our company's knowledge base and training colleagues.
  • Collaborate with the Department Manager to establish and maintain technical presentations, product battle cards, warranty guidelines, and other critical documentation.
  • Develop and deliver regular technical product and system trainings to clients, introducing new products or showcasing system configurations.
  • Utilize our design software, PV Manager, to create Solar PV designs, and initiate internal and external trainings on this software.
  • Draw single-line diagrams to support technical documentation and customer communication.
  • Serve as the primary contact for warranty and claim handling of products, particularly those where we are responsible for first-line service.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in the SOLAR field is an asset.
  • Product experience with Victron, SMA, Fronius, GoodWe, SolarMD, and BYD is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of technical experience in the SOLAR industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Excellent Afrikaans and English skills are necessary.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
  • Capacity to organize, prioritize, and effectively multi-task daily, meeting deadlines.
  • Assertive, confident, and clear communicator, proficient in email, phone, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Proficient with desktop applications such as Windows & Office, with ERP System Knowledge being an asset.
  • Experience with PV Design Software, such as PV Syst, PV Sol, is an asset.
  • Valid state driver's license is required.
