Job Description

The Store Operations Director is a key role within The Building Company, responsible for driving profitability and growth through effective management of employees, finances, and technology.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage store profitability by controlling costs, maximizing sales turnover, and identifying new business opportunities.
  • Develop and implement operational plans, ensuring alignment with company objectives and procedures.
  • Oversee procurement, stock control, and merchandising, maintaining optimal stock levels and minimizing losses.
  • Ensure accurate financial management, including budget compilation and adherence to company policies.
  • Promote customer satisfaction, resolving complaints effectively and coordinating promotional activities.
  • Lead day-to-day operations, administration, customer sales, and service, as well as employee management and development.
  • Analyze operational data to diagnose problems and opportunities, implementing solutions to enhance success areas.
Requirements:
  • Grade 12 qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Preferably a commerce bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Financial or management diploma desirable.
  • Minimum 5-10 years retail experience, with at least 3 years in a junior-mid level management position.
  • Previous industry-related experience and knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act preferred.
  • Financial acumen, logistics/procurement skills, and merchandising principles essential.

Estimated Salary: R1,200,000 - R1,800,000 per annum, depending on location and experience.
