Restaurant Operations Manager

A Restaurant Manager is responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of a restaurant, ensuring that all areas meet company standards and policies. Key responsibilities include:

People
  • Create long-term objectives and action plans for employee development and growth.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating and enforcing leadership behaviors to set the pace and communicate effectively.
  • Conduct regular meetings with managers, crew opinion surveys, and communication sessions to foster a positive work environment.
  • Develop and implement plans to increase employee satisfaction and morale, adhering to all personnel policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all workplace safety and security procedures, including contractor management.
  • Manage employee minimums and administer the performance review process for all staff members.
  • Lead the development and training of all restaurant employees, ensuring they have the necessary skills to excel in their roles.
  • Complete management schedules using the 10 management scheduling principles, ensuring optimal resource allocation.
Workplace Safety/Security
  • Enforce all workplace safety policies, including contractor management, at all times.
  • Ensure that all workplace safety policies and procedures are maintained and adhered to through regular consultation and review.
  • Undertake risk assessments on all restaurant-specific issues, ensuring the absence of risks that could harm employees and customers.
  • Develop and implement emergency procedures, conducting regular practices to ensure preparedness.
  • Investigate incidents in the restaurant, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensure all security procedures are executed, maintaining a secure environment for employees and customers.
  • Maintain all physical plant aspects of the restaurant, including landscaping, building, equipment, and other facilities, through regular inspection and testing.
  • Continuously improve workplace safety, addressing concerns and issues in a timely manner.
  • Keep accurate records within the restaurant, ensuring transparency and accountability.
QSC/Sales Building
  • Oversee overall QSC levels, Sales, and Customer Satisfaction in the restaurant, ensuring excellence at all times.
  • Create long-term restaurant objectives and action plans for QSC and Sales building, driving growth and improvement.
  • Measure customer satisfaction and develop plans to enhance it, increasing customer loyalty and retention.
  • Define the restaurant's trading area, competitors, and traffic generators, using this information to maximize sales and revenue.
  • Ensure all systems are current and effective, driving business results.
  • Manage and meet QSC standards on all shifts, ensuring consistency and excellence.
  • Develop and implement restaurant extensions of national promotions, driving sales and revenue.
  • Proactively address changes in volume patterns and promotional activities, ensuring operational standards are maintained.
  • Implement new products and procedures in-restaurant, driving business growth and improvement.
Food Safety / Sanitation
  • Adhere to all food safety and sanitation requirements, ensuring a safe environment for employees and customers.
Profit
  • Oversee the profit results of the restaurant, ensuring financial stability and growth.
  • Create long-term objectives and action plans for Profit, driving business results.
  • Accurately project and control all P&L line items, including food, labor, and other expenses.
  • Manage fixed assets, ensuring optimal utilization and return on investment.
Administration
  • Administer and verify all deposits, ensuring accuracy and transparency.
  • Manage in-restaurant payroll procedures, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the accuracy of monthly reports, providing timely and actionable insights.
  • Enforce people policies and procedures, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
  • Ensure that all daily paperwork, weekly inventories, and statistical reports are completed accurately and on a timely basis.
