Business Development Manager

Arvo is seeking a dynamic Business Development Manager to join their team in Johannesburg. This role involves building and maintaining strong relationships with travel agents, managers, and agency owners across the region.
About the Role:
- This role primarily focuses on promoting Arvo's services to drive sales and loyalty among travel agents.
- You will spend most of your time on the road, visiting travel agents at their offices, ensuring their ongoing satisfaction.
- The ideal candidate should have experience in the travel or hotel industry, especially those who have previously sold to or worked with travel agents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with travel agents, agency managers, and owners to ensure consistent and high-quality service delivery.
- Promote and sell Arvo's products/services to travel agents to drive revenue and increase market share.
- Spend the majority of your time on the road, visiting travel agencies across Gauteng, providing support, training, and product knowledge to agents.
- Use Excel (including pivot tables) to track and report on sales performance, customer activity, and trends. Manage and update customer data in the CRM system.
- Assist agents with online booking systems and troubleshooting to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Provide feedback to management on market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs.
- Be prepared to travel to other provinces within South Africa and potentially to neighbouring countries for business development and relationship management.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in the travel industry or hotel industry is highly advantageous, especially if you have experience selling to travel agents or working in a sales-driven role.
- Proven track record of building relationships, generating sales, and achieving targets.
- Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including the use of pivot tables for reporting.
- Experience with online booking systems and customer relationship management (CRM) software.
- Ability to manage sales reporting and track performance metrics.
- Languages: Fluent in English and Afrikaans. Knowledge of other African languages such as Sesotho, Setswana, Zulu, or Xhosa is a definite advantage.
- Ability to work remotely, manage your own schedule, and be proactive in making sales visits to agents.
- Be ready to visit the Johannesburg office approximately once a week for meetings and updates.
- Willingness to travel domestically (within South Africa) and occasionally to neighbouring countries, including air travel.
Salary: R55 000 - R70 000 per month, negotiable and depending on experience.
