Pastry Chef - Cruise Ship

As a Pastry Chef on our cruise ship, you will be responsible for creating and executing a variety of baked goods, desserts, and breads for all dining outlets on board.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Baker in developing and implementing pastry menus and recipes
  • Ensure that all pastry items are prepared to the highest quality standards and in accordance with company guidelines
  • Maintain a clean and organized work station, adhering to all sanitation and safety regulations
  • Assist in inventory management and ordering of ingredients and supplies
  • Train and supervise junior pastry cooks and bakers, ensuring they adhere to company standards and procedures
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as the main kitchen and restaurant teams, to ensure smooth and efficient operations
  • Participate in menu planning and development, bringing new and creative ideas to the table
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to food safety and hygiene
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times, representing the company in a positive light to guests and fellow crew members

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Pastry Cook or Baker in a high-volume, upscale restaurant or hotel
  • Culinary degree or diploma from a recognized culinary institution preferred
  • Strong knowledge of pastry and bakery techniques and methods
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work long hours and adapt to changing schedules and demands
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written
  • Valid Food Handlers Certificate or equivalent
  • Previous experience working on a cruise ship is an asset, but not required
