Hire Resolve is looking for a Lead Civil Engineering Specialist to support our client, a seasoned Civil Engineering Technologist or Civil Engineer, within the Infrastructure Business Unit. This position entails overseeing a diverse range of tasks in the Civil Engineering sector. The ideal candidate will be tasked with strategizing, organizing, directing, and managing various infrastructure initiatives while providing expert insights on alternative engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategize and oversee project scope, timelines, costs, and quality standards.
  • Ensure adherence to project approval protocols and quality management plans.
  • Prepare precise project cost assessments and cash flow forecasts.
  • Engage with clients to ascertain and fulfill project requirements.
  • Assist in drafting tender evaluation documents and recommending project teams.
  • Compile specifications for project teams and supervise the tendering process.
  • Lead site assessments and feasibility analyses.
  • Draft and evaluate project feasibility and design documentation.
  • Evaluate sustainability and environmental implications.
  • Review preliminary design schematics and calculations for compliance.
  • Guarantee detailed designs are compliant using authorized software.
  • Address design challenges in a timely manner.
  • Participate in design and project coordination discussions.
  • Manage project tasks and responsibilities effectively.
  • Compile contract documentation and ensure accurate measurements.
  • Prepare project progress reports and reports for funding agencies.
  • Oversee client-contractor agreements.
  • Review contractor payments and prepare variation requests.
  • Coordinate with clients, professionals, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Monitor contractor performance and manage budgets/resources efficiently.
  • Ensure project compliance with legal standards.
  • Maintain safe working conditions.
  • Supervise CAD for engineering drawings and project documentation.
  • Resolve technical issues and enforce contractual commitments.
  • Implement a quality management system (QMS) across all projects.

Qualifications:

  • BSc Eng or BEng or BTech in Civil Engineering.
  • Registered with ECSA as PrEng / Pr. Technologist.
  • A minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Experience in Civil Engineering projects, with additional knowledge in bulk water supply and sewerage disposal being advantageous.
  • Strong background in client engagement, understanding client needs, and initiating engineering solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Organized, motivated, and goal-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in both in-person and virtual teams.
  • Ability to perform efficiently under pressure.
