Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Infrastructure Engineer to oversee and manage critical engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and initiate projects effectively, ensuring optimal resource management.
  • Manage engineering project aspects, focusing on scope, timelines, budget, and quality.
  • Ensure compliance with project approval processes and quality standards, identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Assist in preparing accurate project cost estimates and cash flow forecasts.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to understand their needs and ensure implementation in projects.
  • Support the preparation of tender evaluation reports in accordance with client and statutory requirements.
  • Compile job specifications for project teams and supervise the tendering process.
  • Recommend suitable project team appointments as necessary.
  • Coordinate with project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct site investigations and feasibility studies as required.
  • Prepare and review reports on project feasibility and design.
  • Evaluate sustainability and environmental impacts of projects.
  • Prepare preliminary designs and develop detailed engineering designs.
  • Ensure compliance with design codes and client standards in all design preparations.
  • Facilitate design challenges resolution within agreed timelines.
  • Participate in design and project coordination meetings.
  • Prepare comprehensive design reports with cost estimates and present findings to clients.
  • Administer contracts effectively, ensuring adherence to client standards.
  • Compile accurate contract documentation and oversee measurement preparations.
  • Generate project status reports by analyzing trends and recommending actions.
  • Compile monthly project cost reports and ensure timely contractor payments.
  • Chair and attend monthly progress and technical meetings.
  • Manage project resources and budgets to ensure timely completion.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and safety regulations throughout project execution.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing established procedures.
  • Oversee CAD personnel to ensure accurate engineering drawings.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized, motivated, and goal-oriented.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in both physical and virtual environments.
  • Capable of performing efficiently under pressure.

Educational Background:

  • BSc Eng, BEng, or BTech in Civil Engineering.
  • Registered with ECSA as PrEng or Pr. Technologist.
  • Minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Experience in civil engineering projects, particularly in bulk water supply and sewerage disposal, is advantageous.
  • Strong client liaison skills and ability to understand and address client needs.
