About the Role:

Hire Resolve is seeking a highly skilled Principal Infrastructure Engineer to oversee critical engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage project planning, initiation, and resource allocation effectively.
  • Oversee engineering project management focusing on scope, timeline, budget, and quality.
  • Ensure compliance with project approval processes and quality standards, identifying and mitigating risks appropriately.
  • Assist in creating precise project cost estimates and cash flow forecasts.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to understand their requirements and ensure implementation in projects.
  • Support the preparation of tender evaluation reports adhering to client and statutory requirements.
  • Compile job specifications for project teams and supervise the tendering process.
  • Recommend suitable project team appointments as necessary.
  • Coordinate with project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct site investigations and feasibility studies as required.
  • Prepare and review reports on project feasibility and design aspects.
  • Evaluate the sustainability and environmental impacts of projects.
  • Accurately prepare preliminary designs and develop detailed engineering designs.
  • Ensure compliance with accepted design codes and client standards during the design process.
  • Compile project objectives and ensure the project team develops compliant designs using approved software.
  • Resolve design and development challenges promptly.
  • Participate in design and project coordination meetings.
  • Prepare and oversee the creation of preliminary and final design reports, including cost estimates and recommendations.
  • Contract Administration:
  • Exercise technical and administrative authority for assigned tasks within project teams.
  • Compile contract documentation according to client standards and ensure accurate measurements are prepared.
  • Generate project status reports by analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
  • Prepare reports as required by funding agencies.
  • Compile monthly project cost reports.
  • Administer contracts efficiently, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Review contractor payment applications and prepare variation orders accurately.
  • Ensure timely submission of contractor payment certificates to clients.
  • Facilitate monthly site progress and technical meetings.
  • Project Management:
  • Liaise with clients and various professionals, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Monitor and inspect contractor work, identifying hazards and assessing risks.
  • Manage project budgets and resources effectively.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements, particularly health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing procedures and regulations.
  • Oversee CAD personnel to ensure accurate translation of designs into engineering drawings.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Highly organized, motivated, and goal-oriented.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in both in-person and virtual settings.
  • Capable of working efficiently under pressure.

Educational Background:

  • BSc Eng, BEng, or BTech in Civil Engineering.
  • Registered with ECSA as PrEng or Pr. Technologist.
  • A minimum of 8 years' experience post-qualification.
  • Experience in Civil Engineering projects, particularly in bulk water supply and sewerage disposal, is advantageous.
  • Strong client liaison skills and the ability to understand client needs and initiate engineering solutions.
