About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Chief Operating Officer to join our team at Prostaff Holdings (Pty) Ltd. As a key member of our executive leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing all commercial activities, from pricing strategies and sales management to partnerships with key suppliers and engagement with major customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commercial Strategy Development: Develop and implement commercial strategies to drive revenue growth, ensuring alignment with the company's overall objectives.
  • Sales Leadership: Lead the commercial side of the business, including pricing, product positioning, and go-to-market strategies.
  • Business Development: Identify new business opportunities, market trends, and growth areas to expand market share.
  • Team Management: Oversee the sales team, providing guidance and leadership to achieve sales targets and drive overall performance.
  • Process Improvement: Establish sales processes, metrics, and KPIs to monitor and optimise the effectiveness of the sales team.
  • Customer Engagement: Drive a customer-centric sales culture that delivers exceptional client experiences while maximising revenue.
  • Supplier Partnerships: Build and maintain strong partnerships with suppliers and vendors, negotiating terms that benefit the company.
  • Financial Management: Monitor product margins and commercial performance, ensuring the company remains financially sound.
  • Operational Leadership: Provide leadership across all operational aspects of the business, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations.
  • Strategic Alignment: Work closely with the CEO and other executives to implement processes and systems that drive operational excellence.
  • Team Development: Mentor and develop commercial and sales teams, fostering a culture of high performance and collaboration.
  • Performance Management: Establish clear performance goals and KPIs for team members, holding them accountable for results.
  • Contract Negotiation: Oversee contract negotiations with key clients and suppliers, ensuring favourable terms for the company.
  • Financial Planning: Manage budgets and financial forecasts, ensuring that commercial activities are aligned with financial targets.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field is essential for this role (A Master's degree is preferred).
  • Previous (5) experience working in a senior commercial or operational role, with a proven track record in building and scaling startups or medium-sized businesses.
  • Strong understanding of pricing strategies, sales management, and partnership development.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills with experience leading sales and commercial teams.
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage and influence major customers and stakeholders.
  • Previous experience in contract management and supplier negotiations.
  • Proficient in CRM systems, sales management tools, and financial software.
