Job Summary

  • We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Grossing Specialist to join our Anatomical Pathology team.

About the Role

  • As a Grossing Specialist, you will play a critical role in preparing biological specimens for analysis and diagnosis.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform gross examinations and dissections of surgical specimens as well as autopsy procedures.
  • Prepare tissues for microscopic examination, including preparation of frozen and permanent sections for light, electron, and immunofluorescent microscopy.
  • Perform postmortem examinations, including external examination, in-situ organ inspection, evisceration, dissection, and dictation of organ weights and gross anatomic findings.
  • Maintain all gross room and morgue equipment, pathology archives, and archived specimens.
  • Assure proper maintenance of equipment, adequate supplies, and cleanliness of surgical pathology area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related biological sciences field is required; Master's Degree is preferred.
  • 1-3 years' experience in grossing or a related field is preferred.
  • PA Certification or eligibility for certification by the ASCP is required.
