Varsity College is a prominent educational institution under The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE), recognized for its leadership in private higher education in South Africa. The IIE is officially registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) to offer accredited higher education qualifications by the Council on Higher Education (CHE).

IIE Varsity College, Pretoria campus is looking for qualified individuals in the area of Political Studies to enhance the teaching and research capabilities within the Faculty of Management Studies.

POSITION OBJECTIVE

The main objective of this role is to provide effective teaching and facilitation of academic programs, alongside all related academic activities aimed at fostering student engagement and support, which are essential for promoting student success and learning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teaching and Facilitation
  • Assessment and Grading
  • Student Support Services

Required Competencies:

  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Strong Organizational Skills
  • Effective Time Management

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Arts Honours or Bachelor of Social Science Honours in Political Studies.

Alternatively:

  • Postgraduate Diploma, Master's (MA/MPhil), or Doctorate (PhD/DPhil) in Political Studies.
  • A Master's degree in one of the Applied Humanities or Commerce fields with a focus on Strategic Innovation, Business Innovation, Innovation Management, Sustainable Business Innovation, Corporate Social Responsibility, Development Economics, Applied Development Economics, Community Development, Grassroots Innovation, Sociology, Social Development, Social Entrepreneurship, or Social Innovation at the undergraduate level.

  • A relevant NQF 8 qualification in one of the Applied Humanities or Commerce fields with similar innovation or development economics-related modules at the undergraduate level.

Minimum Work Experience:

  • Experience in the Political Studies industry
  • Previous lecturing experience

Working Conditions:

  • This position is classified as an Independent Contractor role.
