Key Responsibilities:- Hands-on On-site Supervision: Provide on-site supervision to fibre optic specialists, ensuring that they have the necessary tools and resources to complete their tasks efficiently.
- Fibre Optic Cable Installation and Removal: Oversee the installation and removal of fibre optic cables, including multi-cable transits and fibre optic splicing.
- Fault Resolution and Repair: Identify and resolve faults on fibre optic systems, ensuring that they are functioning properly and meet the required standards.
- Infrastructure Rehabilitation: Rehabilitate faulty and old fibre optic cables and supporting infrastructure, including site entry, manholes, handholes, and other supporting infrastructure.
- Scheduled Maintenance: Organize scheduled maintenance on fibre infrastructure, ensuring that it is secure and functioning optimally.
- Route Surveillance: Conduct regular route surveillance to ensure that fibre infrastructure is secure and not exposed to damage.
- Physical Audit and Route Patrols: Conduct physical audits of fibre infrastructure, including underground and overhead cables, and regularly conduct route patrols to ensure security.
- Fibre Core Health Status: Monitor the health status of fibre cores using OTDR and conduct regular traces/sweeps for all unused cores.
- Degraded Fibre Segments: Identify and schedule maintenance windows to improve degraded fibre segments, shared by NOC/Support.
- System Records: Maintain system records of fibre core designs and update any changes after every maintenance window.
- Preventive Maintenance: Conduct preventive maintenance of sites and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- FLM Works: Carry out FLM works for all network issues, ensuring that they are resolved within the required timeframe.
- Remote Support: Provide remote login to second-line support teams, ensuring that they have the necessary information to resolve issues efficiently.
- New Connections and Fibre Terminations: Conduct surveys for new connections and fibre terminations, ensuring that they are completed within the required timeframe.
- Link Restoration: Restore links within SLA or less, depending on the criticality of the issue.
- Site Labelling: Ensure that all attended sites are clearly labelled.
- Senior Certificate: Essential qualification for the role.
- Min of 10 years' experience: Minimum of 10 years' experience in a similar role.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, capable of delivering information to both technical and non-technical personnel.
- Autonomy and Teamwork: Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Good problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make informed decisions.
