About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team at Amazon Data Services South Africa (Pty) Ltd. As a Data Center Electrical Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, planning, and operation of our data centers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement electrical systems for data centers, including power distribution, electrical switchgear, and cooling systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with other data center infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, operation manuals, and maintenance procedures.
  • Perform site visits to ensure compliance with electrical codes and regulations, and to identify areas for improvement.
  • Work closely with the operations team to resolve electrical-related issues and ensure minimal downtime.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 8-10 years of experience in industrial or commercial engineering, with a focus on mission-critical facilities.
  • Fluent knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution, electrical switchgear, and cooling systems.
  • Experience with building codes and regulations, including OSHA and NFPA standards.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with data center design and operation, including experience with data center infrastructure management (DCIM) systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and regulations, including IEC and IEEE standards.
  • Experience with electrical system design software, including AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues.
