Data Center Operations Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Data Center Operations professional to join our team at Dimension Data. This role is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our data centers, ensuring the smooth delivery of our services to clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily Facility Management: Conduct daily inspections of all data center facilities, including generators, UPS systems, fire systems, air conditioning, electrical distribution, access control, CCTV, and general housekeeping.
  • Incident Management: Log calls to suppliers and vendors when incidents are identified, ensuring all incidents are resolved within the set Service Level Agreement (SLA).
  • Administration: Administer service sheets, job cards, and monthly reports to ensure accurate record-keeping and timely reporting.
  • Policies and Procedures: Implement and enforce formal data center policies and procedures to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Access Control and Security: Provide high-quality access control support and facilitate a secure experience for clients within our data centers.
  • Training and Development: Attend scheduled training and successfully complete assessments to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Travel and Standby: Occasionally travel between data center locations and be available for standby cover on a rotational basis.

Requirements

  • Data Center Accreditation: Data Center Engineer (CDCE/P/S/FOM) or equivalent.
  • Wireman's Accreditation: Required for electrical work and maintenance.
  • Technical Competency: Demonstrated technical skills with data center facilities, including generators, UPS systems, air conditioning, and electrical distribution.
  • Experience: 5-10 years of data center facilities management and/or data center engineering management experience.

Advantageous Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering or facility management.
