We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team at Amazon Data Services South Africa (Pty) Ltd. As a Data Center Electrical Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, construction, and operation of our data centers.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement electrical systems for data centers, including power distribution, electrical distribution, and lighting systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that electrical systems meet the required standards and specifications.
- Develop and maintain electrical system documentation, including design drawings, specifications, and test reports.
- Conduct site visits to inspect electrical systems and identify areas for improvement.
- Work with vendors and contractors to ensure that electrical systems are installed and commissioned correctly.
- Develop and implement electrical system maintenance and testing procedures to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 8-10 cumulative years of experience with industrial or commercial engineering in Mission Critical facilities, including data centers, power generation, oil/gas facilities.
- Basic understanding of both mechanical and electrical equipment/design related to data centers.
- Fluent knowledge of continuous operating redundant electrical systems, cooling systems, air flow containment systems, and building management systems.
- Experience using a variety of web-based and other software tools for calculation and data processing.
- Experience as resident engineer or hands-on (in the field) design consultant or owner's engineer.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations for South Africa.
- EPMS/SCADA/BMS Controls system experience (software and/or hardware).
- Data Analysis Skills (SQL/Tableau).
- 132kv High Voltage Substation Experience.
