Organisational structure showing the position with two positions above and two positions below. Provide legal support to the company with a focus on group legal work and legal work in the life insurance environment.

**WHAT WILL YOU DO?**

**Reporting**
- Drafting of legal documents at the request of EXCO or business.
- Provide ad hoc reports on regulatory issues affecting RMA.
- Ensure that efficient reporting to boards, exco and management is done.

**Advice**
- Provide advice on the structuring of deals within the insurance environment.
- Interpret regulatory requirements applicable to business.
- Advise on the implementation of new regulatory requirements.
- Provide professional written and well researched legal opinions and advice to business on request.
- Analyse specific problems and issues to find the best solutions for business. Solutions could be technical or professional in nature.service providers

**Contracts**
- Prepare contracts.
- Review contracts.

**Liaison and Representation**
- Liaise with attorneys.
- Instruct and draft briefing material for external legal service providers.
- Manage litigation for and against the company and liaise with attorneys and advocates.
- Liaise with the Regulators as and when requested.
- Represent the department at committee meetings, meetings with regulators and ASISA structures as and when required

**Newsletter**
- Prepare a legal Newsletter to keep business abreast of relevant legal developments in the industry.
- Write and edit material for various target populations, tailoring the tone and content to match the needs and expectations of each audience.

**Company policies**
- Draft and review company policies.
- Recommend changes to policies, processes, standards and practices that would improve operational support

**Insurance Policies**
- Draft and review insurance policies that are compliant with all relevant regulatory requirements.

**Budget Management**
- Ensure the development of a legal budget considering organisational strategic needs for increased growth and sustainability and to ensure the availability and management of resources to meet organisational operational objectives.

**WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TABLE?**
- Grade 12
- Professional / Tertiary Legal Degree
- MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Legal Degree
- Admitted as Attorney of the High Court of SA OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Practical knowledge of applicable insurance and related legislation.
- Ability to interface with clients and staff.
- Excellent verbal communication and writing skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Good presentation skills and ability to interact with senior management.
- Experience in drafting Legal documents. EXPERIENCE (Minimum necessary before being considered for the Job)
- 6 years working experience in the legal environment in practice with a focus on insurance and / or at a life insurer
- TRAINING (Essential training received in addition to the above experience to perform the job).
