This role has the primary responsibility for ensuring appropriate Medical emergency response service to the main and satellite campuses, including providing immediate medical response as well as the planning and co-ordination of additional resources to provide this service and related contractual arrangements. The role will also ensure appropriate infrastructure and processes are in place to ensure a reliable, efficient and effective medical response capability at UWC campuses.

Reporting to the Manager Safety, Health, Environmental and Emergency Services under the Director Risk and Compliance, the role will entail among other duties:

- Develop, implement and Maintenance of Medical plans, guidelines and processes relating to Medical emergency response/ emergencies.
- Ensure the provision of Medical Assistance to staff and students on the main and satellite campuses and residences of UWC
- Ensure Regular inspections and fill ups of Regulation first aid equipment throughout the University. (All departments and faculties)
- Ensure the provision of emergency medical standby for events and campus functions
- Ensure appropriate 1st Aid training in conjunction with HR Training and Development and general awareness training to all staff and students when required.
- Provides guidance and support during medical and other emergency situations ie: fire, bomb scares, accidents etc.
- Prepare management reports on Medical emergency incidents, trends and general environment
- Liaise with UWC community in order to identify / stay abreast of campus trends and needs, and keep stakeholders updated on legislation and industry trends
- Stay abreast of legislation and industry and campus trends and update Campus procedures and guidelines as required.
- Maintenance of all Medical response equipment for annual calibration, the UWC approved Ambulance bi-annual inspections and medical golf car for SASREA events

**Minimum Requirements**
- A relevant degree (NQF7)
- Valid Immediate Life Support (ILS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification
- 5 years' experience in medical and emergency response services.
- Valid HPCSA registration
- Knowledge of Medical equipment technical knowledge.
- 2 years' experience working in a team providing support and supervision for large events with emphasis on compiling medical assistance plans
- 2 years' experience in a role involved in the development, implementation and maintaining of Medical Emergency Response Plans, Processes and Guidelines.
- Valid driver's license (PDP) - with 2 years driving experience-
